iIMU-FSAS: Class 1 deg/hr Inertial Measurement System [not for new designs]

Tactical Grade IMU with Trigger and Integrated Power Regulation

THIS PRODUCT IS REPLACED BY iIMU-FSAS-NG (FULLY COMPATIBLE, BUT UP TO 4 W LESS POWER CONSUMPTION)

The iIMU-FSAS is a very small size IMU consisting of 3 fiber optical gyros (FOG) in closed-loop technology of class 0.75 deg/hr and 3 servo-accelerometers of class 1 mg.

For users of NovAtel's SPAN technology, the version iIMU-FSAS-EI-SN is provided. It is directly supporting the SPAN interface, a cable to connect it with NovAtel's ProPak (TM) can be provided on request.

Features:

  • < 0.75 deg/hr, 0.15 deg/rt-hr / 450 deg/s , 1.5 mg / 5g or 20 g ; 400 Hz
  • Bias stability (Allan Variance): < 0.1 deg/hr
  • higher MTBF than RLG systems
  • Interfaces: RS232, RS422 UART, RS422 HDLC, Odometer [depends on options]
  • Applications:
    • Stabilisation tasks
    • INS/GPS navigation
    • Surveying applications
    • Guidance and Control
  • used in many countries / applications worldwide

The IMU is designed for surveying applications as well as for ruggedized applications. The IMU does not contain internal vibration isolators to guarantee a best and stable alignment to the user's application. If operated in extensive vibration environment, the user can mount the iIMU-FSAS on external vibration absorbers if desired. The iIMU-FSAS can be operated on a unregulated wide range input supply voltage and is protected against wrong polarity and moderate over-voltage. The data output can be triggered and the data are sent via RS422 on an HDLC protocol or via RS232 / RS422 UART.

All signals are fed via an robust connector of type MIL-C-38999-III.

If a full INS/GNSS/ODO navigation capability or AHRS functionallity is required, see our product line iNAT-FSSG.

The iIMU-FSAS is manufactured in Germany and can be used in many commercial and defense applications as a replacement for Litton’s LN-200 or Honeywell’s HG1700/1900 in surveying applications. Compared to HG1700 the iIMU-FSAS has more than 10 times higher MTBF.

For new designs, we recommend to use our iIMU-FSAS-NG, which has about 4 W less power consumption and where the enclosure has slightly smaller height (but regarding mounting flange and data interface it is fully form-fit-function compatible):
