iTraceRT-MVT: Class Leading INS/GNSS/+ Solutions for Motion Dynamics Analysis, Vehicle Tracking & Steering
Systems for Testing of Highly and Fully Automated Vehicles on the Test Track up to SAE Level 5
Systems for testing highly and fully automated vehicles on the road up to SAE Level 5.
iTraceRT is the "Ground Truth" reference for vehicle testing worldwide. Its applications range from vehicle dynamics analysis to controlling vehicles in complex traffic scenarios and the most challenging environmental conditions. To achieve this, iTraceRT utilizes inertial sensors, GNSS, and optionally a wheel sensor. It provides position, velocity, heading, attitude, rotation rate, acceleration, and the associated standard deviations for each measurement parameter, enabling automotive development engineers and technicians to excel in their tasks.
iTraceRT is a de facto standard in the automotive industry. The first generation of today’s iTraceRT-MVT device series, introduced 30 years ago, was called iDIS-FMS. Fifteen years later, it was renamed iTraceRT due to its unparalleled lane-level accuracy.
The iTraceRT-MVT device series is the successor to the iTraceRT-F200 and iTraceRT-F400/7 systems, maintaining the same sensory quality (GNSS, inertial sensors) as its predecessors. However, it is enhanced with interfaces and algorithms that enable its use for verification and control tasks on proving grounds up to SAE Level 5. Among other features, it supports iMAR's iDNM Dynamic Mesh Communication Network (WLAN-compatible). For extended stretches with significant GNSS degradation, such as in urban canyons or routes with tunnels, it incorporates a highly efficient, market-leading odometer aiding system. This capability is made possible by more powerful processing technology and an expanded system architecture.
The iTraceRT-MVT is based on iMAR's iNAT architecture (Navigation & Timing) with a dedicated user profile in the iXCOM-CMD software tailored for automotive applications. This includes a comprehensive wizard for extremely simple plug-and-play operation and an automotive CAN interface. It is the preferred solution for all users who prioritize the highest accuracy and reliability in their measurement equipment.

-
CAN Interface Compatibility: Compatible with the CAN interface of the predecessor iTraceRT-F4xx.
-
Integrated Multi-Frequency/Multi-Constellation GNSS Receiver: Supports GPS, GALILEO, GLONASS, BEIDOU, with optional dual-antenna capability.
-
2 cm Positioning Accuracy (RMS): Achievable under appropriate GNSS availability and dynamics using RTK (multi-frequency/multi-constellation). Reference data can be supplied via iREF-GNSS, iNetGo, or iDMN Dynamic Mesh Communication Network.
Advanced Features:
- Minimal Latency and Jitter: Ideal for active control of high-speed vehicles, such as creating traffic scenarios on proving grounds (see iSWACO-ARGUS for details).
- NTRIP Caster Functionality (Optional): Can serve as a GNSS reference station, providing correction data to other devices within the iDMN network.
- Maintenance-Free Real-Time Clock (RTC) (optional).
- ABD Steering Robot Interface: Certified by ABD for compatibility.
Applications:
- ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) verification and analysis, including measurements per EuroNCAP AEB (Autonomous Emergency Braking) standards.
- GNSS-Denied Environments: With LiDAR coupling via iLIANE, it supports localization and vehicle guidance in GNSS-deprived conditions.
Integration & Compatibility:
- Easy Integration: Drivers and tools available for ROS 2, Python, C++ SDK, and MATLAB scripts.
- Connectors: Our systems are the leading solution in terms of accuracy and reliability. Therefore, we standardly use MIL connectors from the MIL-C-38999 III series, ensuring our systems are specified for temperatures as low as -40°C and, in some cases, even -54°C.
Alternatively, we also offer the iTraceRT-MVT-300 with industrial LEMO connectors (picture: see the iNAT-M300 in the LEMO configuration for reference). The HCG connector series is used in this variant. However, it is important to note that industrial connectors, like those used by competitors, are typically only specified down to -20°C! - Comprehensive Accuracy Spectrum: The only provider on the market covering the entire accuracy spectrum of inertial sensor technology and algorithms, from MEMS to Ring Laser Gyroscopes.
- Protocol Support: Compatible with the communication protocols of other market systems (OxTS, Genesys, ABD, Advanced Navigation, etc., on request).
Popular Models for Automotive Testing:
- iTraceRT-MVT-300/TLN-1-DA and iTraceRT-MVT-300/TLE-LN1-DA are bestsellers for automotive testing applications.
This versatile system represents a market-leading solution for engineers and technicians demanding unparalleled accuracy, reliability, and adaptability in motion measurement and vehicle testing.
Important hint:
In line with our proven design philosophy and technical code of conduct for our products and solutions, the performance of iMAR measurement systems is determined exclusively by the laws of physics. The real-time output of our systems and solutions is achieved through intelligent signal processing developed by our experienced engineers, rather than relying on artificial intelligence (AI).
Experienced customers do not entrust the success of critical or general missions to the heuristic decisions of AI. Instead, they rely daily on the unparalleled reliability, accuracy, and availability of iMAR solutions. This trust is founded on our mathematically and physically precise and verifiable results.
Details on proving ground integration can be found in the iSWACO-ARGUS product flyer.
Other provides of proving ground equipment are ABD, Humanetics, OXTS, Genesys, SBG, Advanved Navigation etc. Check theit real world performance before making a buy decision. Ask also, wheter the measurement results base on AI methods (unpredicted behavior as well as model based algorithms are a "no-go" for measurement tools, which are used to survey a vehicle's behavior or to control it in difficult environment, where certain vehicle models might not be valid!)
