iSWACO-M200: Navigation and Vehicle Controller for Swarm Control

INS/GNSS solution with included LTE / GSM / WLAN and integrated vehicle control

Swarm Control is a most important application for highly autonomous operating vehicles. All vehicles have to operate within a shared space, a joined task has to be fulfilled and therefore the trajectory control of each swarm member (e.g. autonomous marine vessels, unmanned airborne vehicles, highly automated road vehicles etc.) is as mandatory as communication is between every member and - if desired - also with a control center.

With iSWACO (Swarm Control Navigation & Communications &Vehicle Control) iMAR has launched a family of systems to serve the needs of highly autonomous operating vehicles. Beside of the localization task (INS/GNSS etc.) it contains a powerful multi-band RF communication and also an integrated, but for safety reasons separated microcontroller which is used to inject set values to the vehicles actuators (engine torque, steering, brake...) in real-time for automated or autonomous vehicle control purposes.

Hence iSWACO-M200 is a device with an integrated navigation solution based on inertial sensors and a highly sophisticated data fusion by incorporating information from GNSS, wheel sensors, RADAR or stereo camera for precise positioning as well as environmental survey.
Additionally iSWACO contains a powerful communication module for LTE, GSM and WLAN, to be able to interact with all other swarm members in the neighborhood as well as with an upper level control center.

jeudi, 02 juin 2016 Hexapod: 6DOF Motion Simulator with 1'000 kg Payload Capability

iMAR expands lab by powerfull Hexapod

Motion Simulator for Real World Testing of Sensors and Platforms

Rate tables or turn tables are used to measure and calibrate inertial sensors and systems regarding angular rates or orientation in space, but they are not suitable to perform tests regarding linear motion or acceleration, as they are required for translational motion testing or tumbling motion testing under marine motion excitation.

To be able to test inertial sensors and systems or gimbals or gyro stabilized platforms regarding 6 DOF motion (roll, pitch, yaw as well as angular rates, acceleration, velocity and translational motion on all axes) during a FAT or within the development phase of new products, iMAR installed a powerfull hexapod. This hexapod can carry up to 1'000 kg payload and provides up to 1 g acceleration, up to +/- 450 mm displacement, up to 1 m/s speed, +/- 30 deg in roll / pitch / yaw and 50 deg/s angular rate. The hexapod is mounted in the new iMAR building C with access to the installed 5-to crane system for easy handling of the payloads.

The new hexapod completes the already available in-house testing equipment at iMAR, i.e. 40 kN vibration and shock test system, several multi-axes turntables and temperature chambers, centrifuge, 3D coordinate measuring machine, automatised (driverless) controlled automotive platform etc.

Pegasus: Test Procedures for Highly Automated Driving

iMAR is Member of the Pegasus Research Group: Generalized Test Standards for Automated Driving

lundi, 12 octobre 2015 iNAT-RQT-4003: High Performance Ring Laser Gyro Based Surveying & Navigation System SBB: RF Detetor Rail Vehice, being online geo-located by iMAR's iNAT-RQT-4003 Gotthard Base Tunnel: 57 km no GPS! ICE-2 at Nov-07-2015 in front of Gotthard Base Tunnel, equipped with iNAT-RQT-4003 (source: iMAR / ChRe)

SBB uses iNAT-RQT on MEWA12 to survey Gotthard Base Tunnel

English Abstract:

The RF detector rail vehicle MEWA12 of Schweizerische Bundesbahnen (SBB) has implemented iMAR's iNAT-RQT-4003 in 10/2015 as position and heading reference to survey the RF distribution of GSM-R and commercial GSM on SBB's railway network. The system provides position, heading and velocity even during GNSS outages of more than 1 hour with high accuracy and in real-time. Typical applications are surveying and geo-Location determination in real-time within deep valleys, urban canyons or long tunnels like the Gotthard Base Tunnel (GBT) with 57 km length, where it is just used to certify the RF installation of GSM-R.

Since 06.11.2015 German Rail (DB) uses also the iNAT-RQT-4003 (beside of iMAR's iNAV-RQH-4003 , which is installed sinces more than 10 years successfully on the "RailLab" and other surveying Trains of German Rail) on the ICE-2 high speed train to Survey the GSM-R availability on the rails in the GBT and other tunnels.

The iMAR navigation & surveying systems provide solutions where competitive systems failed under same conditions due to missing accuracy, reliability and support.

The iNAT-RQT-4003 is free of any ITAR regulations and can be exported under simplified "dual-use" regulations worldwide.

iMAR Technology for ProScan, p3d's most advanced Kinematic Laser Scanning Solution

Inertial Measuring and Synchronization Solution for Kinematic Laser Scanning

p3d Systems, a worldwide leading company providing kinematic laser scanning solutions for advanced surveying applications, launches their latest product ProScan. The product is based on p3d's most sophisticated system design and application software, supported by iMAR's advanced inertial measurement and synchronization technology.

The Kinematic Laser Scanning solution from p3d reduces the “time to results” from days to hours by scanning as the system moves through a site. p3d’s solution does not require special scan targets or office registration that sometimes comes with static scanning. The ProScan system works indoors and outdoors and can be operated successfully after only a short introduction. The net result is typically an order-of-magnitude reduction in field and office time for capturing and preparing dense 3D data for various applications and industries.

The picture shows the kinematic scan of iMAR facilities in St. Ingbert, obtained in May 2015, where the ProScan system had been simply manually moved along a line in front of the buildings to gather all data.

p3d's ProScan supports laser scanners from FARO (Faro Focus3D X Series), Leica, Z+F.
